Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do I need to become a VALID Evaluator?
We’re looking for professionals with a strong background in instructional design, learning and development, or online education. You should have experience evaluating or designing digital learning programs, be familiar with adult learning principles, and understand how to assess for outcomes, not just content. Completion of the VALID Evaluator Training is required before you begin paid reviews.
How many programs will I be expected to evaluate?
You decide. We assign programs based on your availability and interest. Some evaluators complete 1–2 reviews per quarter; others take on more. You’ll always have the opportunity to accept or decline a review assignment before it’s assigned.
How does the evaluation process work?
Once you’re assigned a program, you’ll receive access to the full self-study submission and documentation. Using our standardized VALID Accreditation Rubric, you’ll review materials, assign scores, and provide brief written rationale for each criterion. You’ll submit your completed rubric within 10–14 days. Our board uses your evaluation to make the final accreditation decision.
All evaluations are asynchronous, virtual, and supported by VALID’s internal team if you have questions or concerns along the way.
