Get Started: Resources & FAQs

Who is VALID accreditation for?

VALID accredits online career schools, bootcamps, and corporate training programs that teach real-world job skills. If you’re fully or mostly online, serve adult learners, and focus on career outcomes—you’re our people.

How much does it cost to apply?

The application fee is $5,000 per program, paid at the time of submission. This covers the full review process, evaluator scoring, and board decision.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer a 2-payment split: $2,500 upfront, $2,500 before final decision. Email us to arrange this before submitting.

How long does the process take?

The full accreditation process takes 8-12 weeks from submission to final decision. Expedited 3-week review is available for an additional $1,500.

What do I need to submit?

You'll complete a self-study report and upload documentation like:

  • Curriculum map
  • Sample lessons + assessments
  • Tech/tool usage
  • Learner support documentation
  • Accessibility evidence
  • Portfolio or project samples
Can I get accredited if my learners don’t always land jobs?

Yes—we evaluate outcomes through capability, not just placement. If your learners build strong portfolios, complete real tasks, and are job-ready, you’re on the right track.

What happens if I don’t meet the criteria?

Programs that don’t meet the minimum standard receive Provisional or Not Yet Accredited status with detailed feedback. You can reapply after 6 months with a 50% discount.

Is VALID recognized by the Department of Education?

VALID is a private accreditor for career-aligned, non-degree programs. We are actively engaging with workforce policy leaders and DOE officials to build recognition in the space.

Is there an annual fee after accreditation?

Yes, there is a $1,000/year maintenance fee to retain your VALID status, listing, and seal. Accreditation is valid for 3 years, with a renewal review at the end of your term.
